Onboarding Classic ZTNA Profile

The Classic Profile in MicroZAccess enables secure, tunnel-based access to applications using a simplified Zero Trust approach. It is designed for general-purpose access with minimal restrictions, ensuring quick deployment and ease of management.

Prerequisites

Before creating a Classic Profile, ensure:

  • The MicroZAccess application is installed on the endpoint

  • The user has successfully logged in via the application

  • The required Overlay Server and Group Memberships are already configured

Navigation

Follow the steps below to access Classic Profile configuration:

  1. Go to Select Device tab

  2. Select the required device

  3. Navigate to:
    Navbar → MicroZAccess → Classic ZTNA

Default Profile

  • A system-generated profile named default_dns_security is available by default

  • This profile:

    • Is not visible in the MicroZAccess application

    • Is used internally for baseline configurations

Creating a Classic Profile

Step 1: Initiate, Click Add to open the profile creation form.

Step 2: Configure Profile, Enter the required details.

  • Profile Name
    Provide a unique and descriptive name

  • Overlay Server
    Select the required overlay server
    (Refer: Overlay Server Creation Guide)

  • Groups
    Assign the necessary group memberships

Step 3: Save, Click Add to create the profile.

Result

  • The created profile will appear in the Classic Profile table

  • Within a few seconds, the profile will also be visible in the MicroZAccess application

Editing a Classic Profile

Steps

  1. Click the Edit icon corresponding to the profile

  2. Modify the required fields

  3. Click Save to apply changes

Revert Changes

  • If changes are made but not saved:

    • Click Revert to discard modifications

    • Restores the previous configuration

Deleting a Classic Profile

Steps

  1. Click the Delete icon

  2. Confirm the action:

    • Click Yes → Proceed with deletion

    • Click No → Cancel the operation

Result

  • The profile is removed from:

    • The management table

    • The MicroZAccess application

Additional Features

1. Profile Filtration (Column View)

  • Use the Column feature to filter profiles based on:

    • Profile Name

    • Number of Applications

    • Access Policy

2. Download Profiles

  • Click the Download button to export profiles

  • File format: CSV

  • Export Includes:

    • Profile Name

    • Associated Groups

    • Overlay Server details

    • Access-related configurations

Best Practices

  • Use descriptive profile names (e.g., Finance_Classic_Profile)

  • Assign only required groups to avoid over-permission

  • Link profiles with appropriate Overlay Servers

  • Regularly audit and clean up unused profiles

  • Avoid modifying default/system profiles

Role in Zero Trust Architecture

Classic Profile works as a connectivity layer, integrating with:

  • MZA Overlay Servers → Group and network abstraction

  • Group Membership → Tag-based access control

  • App Onboard → Application exposure

  • Access Policy → Conditional access enforcement
